Plea In Supreme Court Seeking To Block The Release Of The Propaganda Film Kerala Story

A plea seeking to block the release of the propaganda film Kerala Story was mentioned in the Supreme Court today. The case came up for consideration in Justice KM Joseph's court, which hears cases against hate speech. But Justice KM Joseph held that this case cannot be heard along with hate speech. The Supreme Court suggested going to the High Court against the Censor Board's permission if necessary. But Kapil Sibal, who stepped forward and said that he would file a detailed petition before the Chief Justice tomorrow, also told Justice KM Joseph to watch the court trailer. Justice KM Joseph's reply was that he saw the report on TV. Reminding the audience that the film is releasing on Friday, Sibal clarified that he will look for possible ways to prevent this.

Yesterday, the Central Censor Board gave permission to the movie The Kerala Story, removing the interview of former Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan. The Youth League has announced a reward of Rs 1 crore if evidence is produced against the allegations in the film. The CPM is of the view that the film is a gang-parivar agenda to create communal riots. The director of the film, Sudeepto Sen, says that the number of people who went to IS from Kerala is not 32,000 but more than that.

The Censor Board has suggested ten changes to the film. The interview of former chief minister VS Achuthanandan at the end of the film was completely removed. Communist Party leaders avoided mentioning that they were not followers of Hindu customs.

The word Indian was changed from Communist Party of India. References related to Hindu gods were omitted from the film. The film has been given an A. The Censor Board has also asked for documents for the figures mentioned in the film. Director Sudeepto Sen says that the film was made after studying about six thousand cases. K. Muraleedharan demanded that The Kerala Story movie not be allowed.
