Powerstar Pawan Kalyan did some amazing films in his initial days of career. One of them is Thammudu. The film released way back in 1999 and it completes 21 years of the release today. PA Arun Prasad directed the movie while Burugupalli Sivaramakrishna produced it under the Sri Venkateswara Art Films banner. Touted to be a sports drama, the movie is based on the 1992 Hindi film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. Along with Pawan Kalyan, the movie also features Preeti Jhangiani and Aditi Govitrikar in the lead roles, while Bhupinder Singh, Achyuth, Brahmanandam, Ali, and Kitty play supporting roles.
Pawan Kalyan plays Subhash, a spoiled college boy, who is a happy-go-around kind of a person. When his brother, a kick-boxer, gets injured, he decides to replace him and fight the opponent. The film received a huge positive response at the box-office along with huge critical acclaim. Ramana Gogula scored the music for the film which received a positive response from the audiences and music lovers.
Madhu Ambat is the cinematographer of the film and Marthand K Venkatesh is the film's editor. The film was remade in Tamil as Badri and in Kannada as Yuvaraja and in Bengali as Champion.
