Prabhu Solomon Reveals Why He Wouldn't Make Films With Big Stars

Prabhu Solomon was catapulted to fame with Mynaa and Kumki. The director's recent work was Ashwin Kumar's Sembi. Recently, he revealed that he is not keen on making films with big actors.

In an interview with The Times of India, Prabhu Solomon revealed that he is not adamant about roping in big stars for his films. He said, "With Kumki, Karthi was actually supposed to play the lead in it. We had finalized almost everything, but the dates of the elephants weren’t available, and we realized moving ahead would only lead to clashes with his other film commitments. So, we parted ways on friendly terms, and only then I picked Vikram Prabhu. You need to have a wild filmmaking style for the kind of films I make. I don’t want to disturb the people of the forests with my shoot, and that would be impossible when I have a star because their fans might assemble at the location. Also, I don’t write too much before going to shoot. I fear that might lead to a loss of realism. Many times, a scene will get developed when I speak to the people of the place during the shoot. This might not go down well with big stars. They might not be comfortable with lines being changed on the day of the shoot as they would have prepared with the bound script. But if I come up with a script that will work only if I have a star like say Kamal sir, I’d definitely approach him. I’ll justify picking the actor who can hold that script. I’m not adamant about not making films with stars.
