Prithviraj apologises, removes scene from his recently released Kaduva

Prithviraj Sukumaran is basking in the success of his recently released film Kaduva. Directed by Shaji Kailas, the film hit the theatres last week and is fetching decent reviews from the critics and audience alike. However, a day after the film's release, the film courted controversy as he made insensitive line about differently-abled children. In a particular scene, Kuriyachan played by Prithviraj criticised Joseph (played by Vivek Oberoi) saying that his child is disabled because of the sins he committed. This did not go down well with people. Director Shaji Kailas took to social media to apologise for the dialogue.

Prithviraj Sukumaran quoted Shaji Kailas's post and wrote, "Sorry. It was a mistake. We ackowledge and accept it (sic)." While a section of people are appreciating the makers of Kaduva for ackowledging the mistake, others are lashing out at the team for such thoughtless dialogue. The film also features Samyuktha Menon in an important role. Earlier Manju Warrier and Jayasurya's film, Meri Awas Sunoo, was criticised for the portrayal of disablity.
