Over the past decade, one hero who saw tremendous growth in his career is Thalapathy Vijay. Once he used to be just another star with a good fan following, but now, he became a demigod in Tamil cinema and almost reached the stature of Superstar Rajinikanth. Every year, he sets up new records and breaks his own previous records.
Popular Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran says that the dynamics of Tamil cinema's economy changes with every Vijay film. In a recent interview, Prithviraj said, "The business dynamics of Tamil films change with the release of every Vijay's film. He is an important person in changing the box-office revenues in Kollywood. He is one of the biggest and intelligent stars in India."
Prithviraj also compared Vijay to Amitabh Bachchan. He said that Vijay has the charisma of Amitabh. "One would stand up for Amitabh whenever he comes to an event. People who don't know him also will feel his presence. Somehow, Vijay got that charisma as well," he added.
After scoring a blockbuster last year with Bigil, Vijay is now working for his next film 'Master' under the direction of Lokesh Kanagaraj. Master will hit the screens worldwide in April this year.
