Shalini Pandey made a glorious debut in Telugu cinema with Vijay Deverakonda's Arjun Reddy. The film's success opened several avenues for the young actress. Though she has done a couple of films in Tamil, she is yet to make a name for herself in Kollywood or taste success here.
Earlier, producer T Siva announced that they have roped in Shalini Pandey to play the female lead in Agni Siragugal which features Arun Vijay and Vijay Antony. She shot for the film for about 27 days for the film and when the shoot was delayed, she said she wouldn't be able to continue shooting for the film because her first priority is her Bollywood film.
Now, producer T Siva has opened up about the whole controversy. He said, "Shalini Pandey was signed for this movie for a 100-day long shoot, and a 27-day shoot schedule was completed in Chennai and Kolkatta. The next set of shoot awaited the dates when both Vijay Antony and Arun Vijay were free, thus the movie’s progress had skidded to a halt of about 6 months. When approached after this, Actress Shalini Pandey mentioned the unavailability of dates owing to her upcoming Bollywood film which she remarked to be her main priority. Therefore, we had to replace the actress with Akshara Haasan. we have also filed complaints in order to proceed with the case legally to retrieve the funds that had gone into the shoot that involved the actress. This move is not directed at maligning Shalini Pandey in any way and she was prim and proper on set."
