Big Budget Period Drama Thuramukham, directed by Rajeev Ravi, hits theaters on December 10. Earlier, there were reports that the film would be an OTT release, but producer Sukumar Thekkepattu denied it. After Kurup and Kaval, Thuramukham will be a big-budget film that will have its release on more than 200 screens. Gopan Chidambaram wrote the screenplay for the film, after Iyobbinte Pusthakam. The film is completed in the backdrop of the Chappa agitation in Kochi.
The film is an adaptation of the play 'Thuramukham' written by Gopan Chidambaran’s father and eminent playwright K.M. Chidambram in 1968. Rajeev Ravi also rolls the camera for the film.
The film stars Nivin Pauly as Moidhu, Indrajith Sukumaran as Santo Gopal, and Joju George as Moidhu's father. Poornima Indrajith plays the role of Umma. Nimisha Sajayan, Arjun Ashokan, Darsana Rajendran, Senthil Krishna, Sudev and Manikandan play key roles in the film. Nivin Pauli describes the film as a classic of Rajeev Ravi.
Nivin heard about the film while discussing another film with the director. The film focuses on the labor movement immediately sparked his interest. Nivin believes that the movie is likely to be talked about a lot. The film even shows a time when there was no electricity in Kerala. Nivin’s belief that the film will be a classic is not far-fetched as the previous movies of Rajeev Ravi indicate.
