Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Lakshmi's NTR’ created ripples in the film fraternity right from the announcement stage. Seems like the much-awaited flick has come across another hurdle. Central Board of Film Certification denied watching the film until the first phase of elections gets completed.
This has probably irked Varma who stated that he would file a case against Censor Board for curbing the Freedom of Expression. In a statement, Varma revealed that CBFC has no right to decide that they will not certify Lakshmi's NTR until the elections get over. “It is the responsibility of Censor Board to watch the film and then decide on the certification. It is not legally correct to deny watching the movie itself. This is blatant pre-Censorship,” he stated.
Varma also took the reference of director-producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali who challenged the hold on the release of his film ‘Padmaavat’ in Supreme Court.
The film is going to be released in Telugu by a Bombay based distribution house NH Studioz. Even if the High Court orders for a stay on the film's release, RGV has already stated that he might think of a digital release.
