Ever since the web-series titled Queen was announced, many speculated that this is a biopic based on the life of the late chief minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalithaa. Now, the web-series featuring Ramya Krishnan in the titular role is all set to release on December 14, is in deep trouble due to these rumors.
Jayalalithaa's niece Deepa Jayakumar has approached the Madras High Court stating that the makers of the biopics did not approach her to get permission from her. Now, Gautham Menon and the rest of the team reveal that Queen is not a story about Jayalalithaa but a fictionalized one.
In a recent interview, Ramya said, "We cannot say that there is no resemblance to the political leader. But, the bottom line is that it is not her story. If you find the resemblance, I like it. I'm a big fan of hers and a huge admirer. Gautham asked me to be myself and react to what's present in the scene."
Gautham Menon added, "It's largely a fictional show. Most of the portions in the series are just interpretations. When I read the story, I could only think of Ramya. I wanted her to be herself with no make-up and no prosthetics, and I knew that if we get into it, it won't look nice."
