Kajol, Karan Johar, Rana Daggubati, and A R Rahman will all appear in Warner Bros.' OTT series "The Journey Of India." The new six-part series commemorates India's 75th anniversary of independence. Each episode, hosted by megastar Amitabh Bachchan, will include a leading voice to highlight a major point in India's progress as a nation.
Kajol, who will transport audiences to Bollywood's past against the backdrop of a film set in motion, said she is honored to be engaged with a production that displays Indian cinema's rich history.
A statement from the actor read: "Bollywood is an enigma that magnificently amalgamates India's zealous spirit of creativity, innovation, and artistic sensibilities. I'm honored to be the one presenting to the audiences a show that celebrates the rich history of Indian cinema, which has for ages catered to the tastes of a diverse range of viewers."
Conservationist and "Baahubali" actor Rana Daggubati and Indian novelist and wildlife conservationist Latika Nath will recognize India's successful sustainability and conservation activities.
Amish Tripathi, a renowned Indian novelist, will pay tribute to India's religious diversity. At the same time, Michelin-starred chef Vikas Khanna will investigate the palatability of Indian food, tracing his beginnings to its effect on world cuisine.
Director S S Rajamouli, veteran actor Hema Malini, entrepreneur Anand Mahindra, celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor, banker Naina Lal Kidwai, climate change campaigner Vani Murthy, fashion designer Ritu Kumar, and renowned dietitian Rujuta Diwekar are among those who will contribute.
"The Journey of India," produced by Black Iris for Warner Bros, launches on October 10 in 12 languages including English, Bengali, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Assamese, Oriya, Marathi, Punjabi, and Gujarati on Discovery+ and Discovery's network of channels in India.
