Ranbir Kapoor On Remakes, 'Why Should I Be A Part Of Somebody Else's Film?

Ranbir Kapoor expressed his opposition to remakes in an old video that was released by self-described film critic Kamaal R Khan (KRK). KRK tweeted about the video on Monday, praising Ranbir Kapoor for his "brilliant statement." Ranbir explained in the video why he would prefer not to take part in someone else's project and how he wants to create something unique. Ranbir has stated that he would prefer for people to replicate his films.

In an interview with Komal Nahta in 2013, Ranbir revealed, “I feel new directors are coming in. We are at a time in the film industry where everyone is becoming brave, taking risks, actors are approaching characters which probably they would never approach early on. Every leading hero is thinking like a character. It is such a wonderful change that has come in the film industry. Why should I do a film that somebody has already done which is a big success? I want to create something new, something original. I want people to remake my film, why should I be a part of somebody else's”.

Ranbir once more expressed his views on remakes last month. He had previously admitted to Times Now Digital that he had been very opposed to remakes of movies and even songs early in his career. "I think very early on in my career also, I was very against remaking a film, even remaking a song. I remember that one song I did, Bachna Ae Haseeno, I also had a little issue but I was also very new at that time, and I didn't have a say into it. I believe I am in a position where I can create original content, I always believe that if there is a film that has been made, it has been made to the best abilities and it is very hard to kind of recreate it and do a better version of it."

Additionally, he had stated that if asked, he would like to play Anthony in Amar Akbar Anthony. In the movie, which also starred Vinod Khanna as Amar and Ranbir's father Rishi Kapoor as Akbar, Amitabh Bachchan played Anthony.

Ranbir is currently at work on his upcoming film, Animal. He's been growing a thick beard for the movie for a while now. More than Rs. 100 crore were made from his most recent film, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, starring Shraddha Kapoor.
