With everyone stuck at home due to the coronavirus lockdown, many TV networks are trying to keep people entertained. Star Plus has just announced that it will be airing the blockbuster Mardaani 2. The stars Rani Mukerji in the role of a police officer.
The film is the sequel to the 2014 film Mardaani. Aditya Chopra produced the film and Pradeep Sarkar directed it. The film also stars Jisshu Sengupta, Tahir Raj Bhasin and Saanand Verma in supporting roles. Mardaani 2 follows the tale of a police officer (Rani Mukerji) uncovering a human trafficking racket.
Rani Mukerji reprises her role of officer Shivani Shivaji Roy in Mardaani 2. She goes up against a 21-year-old rapist and murderer played by Vishal Jethwa.
Rani Mukerji had recently said that “Mardaani 2 is a special movie for me. The original Mardaani that was released in 2014 was widely applauded which is a testament to the fact that people loved the character of Shivani Shivaji Roy. My character highlights the strength of a woman, her determination and resolves which is relevant in today’s time where women empowerment is widely discussed amongst the masses. As it premieres on Star Plus, I am sure people will enjoy this action-packed thriller with their loved ones.”
