Ranveer Singh And Shankar's Next Film, Velpari, Is Set To Hit Theatres In July 2023

The news that Ranveer Singh and Shankar would be working together on India's biggest Pan-Indian film after Bahubali was first reported on November 7. Additionally, the readers were informed that the enormous project would be the film adaptation of the renowned epic novel Velpari, which is also regarded as Tamil literature. And now, it is revealed that Ranveer Singh and Shankar plan to release the film in the summer of next year.

“Ranveer and Shankar are kicked about their first collaboration and plan to make a spectacle for the global audience. While the discussions are going on at regular intervals, the film will get into the full-fledged production stage around June or July 2023,” said a source familiar with the situation. The source also stated that Shankar would have finished filming the Kamal Haasan-starring Indian 2 by then. “Even RC 15 with Shankar would be completed by then. Shankar will be working on the post-production of his two big-scale dramas and the pre-production of his budget epic together,” the source continued. The three-part film adaptation of Velpari will feature actors from all over the country in pivotal roles. It is said to be Shankar and Ranveer Singh's most acclaimed film to date. For those who are unaware, Ranveer had been set to work with Shankar on a modern version of Anniyan earlier in 2021; however, that project is no longer happening. The two have instead chosen to work together on a more significant project that draws on India's rich cultural heritage. Like Ponniyin Selvan, which Mani Ratnam recently adapted for the big screen, the Velpari novel is regarded as legendary cult literature.
