Extracting a lot of fame from the reality show Bigg Boss 13, and shows like Utaran and Dil Se Dil Tak, Rashami Desai has become a brand in herself. On the occasion of Mother's Day, she and her mother Rasila Desai got candid in an interview with a leading daily. Rashami's mother talked about her struggles of being a single mother and how they managed to survive in difficult financial times. Rashami then spoke about an incident where she wanted to join a dance class but her mother couldn't afford the fees of around 300 rupees.
Being a single parent, Rashami's mother admitted that she was scared of society when Rashami chose the profession of acting. She said that she changed her daughter's name from Shivani to Divya and then finally to Rashami. “ I was a single parent, I did not have a husband to support me. Also, in our caste, she was the first woman to enter this field. Our entire family was very educated and did not think of acting as a career. But, I supported her. I was scared of my family and society, so I changed her name. But my sister was there to support me throughout, ” she said.
For a long time, Rashami and her mother were not on speaking terms. They came close after the show Bigg Boss ended. However, now the actress says that she and her mother have classified their misunderstanding and everything is fine between them.
