He was a demi-god for the masses. After ruling the film industry for many years, he entered into politics. He became successful in politics as well and went on to become the Chief Minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. Today is the 97th birth anniversary of this legendary actor. On this occasion, here is a look back into his life.
NTR was born in Nimmakuru village of Krishna district. After completing his graduation, he took up the job of a sub-registrar. Soon, he realized that acting is his passion and started taking steps towards the film industry. NTR started off his film career by acting in a small role of a police officer in the 1949 film Mana Desam. Eventually, he went on to become a lead actor and featured in many successful films. NTR is highly popular for playing the role of Lord Krishna. His first mythological film was the 1957 release of Maya Bazaar. Apart from acting, NTR has also worked as a screenwriter, producer, and director for many films.
In 1982, he entered politics and started the Telugu Desam Party. In 1983, he created a sensation by winning with a huge margin and became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He was the Chief Minister for three tenures (1983-84, 1984-89, 1994-95). NTR died of heart attack, on 18th January 1996. Even though he is no more with us, his roles will get remembered till the Telugu Cinema exists.
