Uday Kiran was born and brought up in Hyderabad. He made his debut with a Hinglish film called Mysterious Girl. However, it was his Telugu debut Chitram which brought him wide fame. Directed by Teja, this 2000 movie featured Reema Sen as the female lead. After the super success of Chitram, Uday Kiran scored two more blockbusters in the form of Nuvvu Nenu and Mansantha Nuvve. With this streak, he became a hat-trick hero of Tollywood. In 2002, Uday Kiran scored another hit with Nee Sneham.
Over the next few years, Uday Kiran appeared in notable films like Neeku Nenu Naku Nuvvu, Aunanna Kadanna, Viyyala Vari Kayyalu, Gunde Jhallumandhi, Nuvvekadunte Nenakkadunta, and Jai Sriram. Uday Kiran made his Tamil debut with the 2006 Tamil film Poi. This film got directed by master filmmaker K. Balachander.
Uday Kiran won a Filmfare Award as Best Actor for Nuvvu Nenu. He got nominated for it once again for Nee Sneham. The actor found dead at his apartment on 5th January 2014. His last film Chitram Cheppina Katha remains unreleased.
