Dolittle is an upcoming American fantasy comedy film directed by Stephen Gaghan and written by Gaghan and Thomas Shepherd. It bases on the character Doctor Dolittle created by Hugh Lofting, primarily The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle. Robert Downey Jr. stars as the title character, alongside Antonio Banderas, Michael Sheen, Jim Broadbent and Harry Collett in live-action roles. The voice cast includes John Cena, Marion Cotillard, Carmen Ejogo, Ralph Fiennes, Selena Gomez, Tom Holland, Rami Malek, Kumail Nanjiani, Craig Robinson, Octavia Spencer, Emma Thompson and Frances de la Tour.

Dr Dolittle is a fantasy comedy wherein a former doctor turns to treat animals because of his love for all creatures. When Doctor Dolittle discovers he can communicate with the animals, he embarks on a fantastical adventure.
Downey Jr. will play the role of Dr Dolittle, while the other cast members will lend their voices to different animals in the movie. The actor released the first poster of the film. The poster features Dr Dolittle surrounded by different animals with a subtitle: “He is just not a people person.” The movie is set to release on January 17, 2020.
