Every year, the International Film Festival of India aka IFFI focusses on the films made in a particular country and screens them under the category 'Country Focus.' This time, on the occasion of the golden jubilee anniversary, the organizers have selected Russia as the country in the focus. Eight Russian films which showcased the country's culture and cinematic brilliance will get screened in the festival.
The eight movies are Abigail (Aleksandr Boguslavskiy), Acid (Alexander Gorchilin), Andrey Tarkovsky: A Cinema Prayer (Andrey Tarkovsky), Beanpole (Kantemir Balagov), Great Poetry (Aleksandr Lungin), The Hero (Karen Oganesyan), Once in Trubchevsk (Larisa Sadilova) and Why Don't You Just Die (Kirill Sokolov).
One name in this list that attracts every movie lover is of the master filmmaker Andrey Tarkovsky. The documentary based on his life, Andrey Tarkovsky: A Cinema Prayer, is the most awaited film for many film connoisseurs. It is sure that the film will get occupied within minutes the bookings start for it. The other films are also quite interesting and are grabbing the attention of the festival delegates.
IFFI 2019 kickstarts on the 20th of this month in Panjim, Goa. It will happen for nine days and finally concludes on the 28th of November. Over 200 films will get screened under 23 different categories, at the festival.
