Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar aka Salim-Javed will always be one of the most popular and critically acclaimed screenwriter duo India has seen. In recent times, rumours of Javed Akhtar's daughter Zoya Akhtar wanting to make a documentary on the iconic duo were making rounds. Turns out the rumours were true. Salman Khan, Salim Khan's son and Zoya's brother Farhan Akhtar have joined in as well. Three of Bollywood's biggest production houses Salman Khan Films, Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby Films are now working coming together on the documentary titled Angry Young Men.
Angry Young Men will chronicle the lives of the iconic duo who dominated Bollywood in the 1970s. Directed by Namrata Roa, the documentary is all set to capture the magic that Salim-Javed created.
Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter space to make the announcement. He wrote, "SALMAN KHAN - EXCEL - TIGER BABY JOIN HANDS... SALIM-JAVED DOCUMENTARY... #SalmanKhan, Excel Entertainment [#FarhanAkhtar, #RiteshSidhwani] and Tiger Baby Films [#ZoyaAkhtar, #ReemaKagti] to make documentary on #SalimKhan and #JavedAkhtar... Titled #AngryYoungMen."
Adarsh added, "Namrata Roa will be directing the documentary."
The iconic duo has been responsible for some of Bollywood's best films such as Sholay, Trishul, Deewar, Seeta Aur Geeta, and more. The title of the documentary could not be more apt. Hindi Cinema's Angry Young Men Amitabh Bachchan shined in several of Salim-Javed's films. In fact, it was Salim-Javed's Zanjeer that earned him the title. Sources say the documentary will address the rise of the duo and the subsequent fall-out between the icons.
Meanwhile, Salman Khan has a string of films like Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali, Kick 2, Tiger 3 and more in his kitty. Farhan Akhatr is looking forward to the release of Toofan. Toofan premiers on Amzaon Prime on 21st July.
