Actor Salman Khan recently spoke at a press conference in Mumbai about the failure of Bollywood films at the box office in recent times. The actor, who has been critical of Hindi films for some time, shared his thoughts on why he thinks this is happening. According to him, filmmakers today are "too cool" and lack an understanding of India. He added that they make films for audiences in Andheri to Colaba, which is not reflective of the rest of the country.
Salman's comments come in light of the box office failure of several Bollywood movies since the Covid-19 pandemic. These included Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, Drishyam 2, and Shah Rukh Khan's recent release, Pathaan. The actor was asked about this at the event. He expressed his concern about filmmakers not making the right movies.
Salman, who is known for his action films, was last seen on the big screen in a cameo appearance in Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan. His last lead role in Radhe (2021) failed to perform well at the box office. Salman is now gearing up for his upcoming film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. The film is being directed by Farhad Samji and produced by Salman Khan Films. The film, which also stars Pooja Hegde, Venkatesh, Jagapathi Babu, Shehnaaz Gill, and Palak Tiwari in supporting roles, will be released on April 21.
Despite his concerns about the direction of Hindi films, Salman hopes that audiences will enjoy his latest film. He said, "I hope my words don't come back to bite me. People shouldn't question what kind of film I have made. It (Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan) is releasing on April 21 and I hope everyone likes it." Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan was originally titled Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali when it was announced in January 2020. However, the film's official title was changed to Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan in August 2022.
