Sandalwood bides farewell to poet KS Nisar Ahmed

Renowned Kannada poet KS Nisar Ahmed passed away yesterday. He took his last breathes at his home in Bangalore. He was 84 years old. The poet was a household name in Karnataka. He was well known for his poems like Nityotsava. The poet was awarded several prestigious awards through the course of his career. Some of them include the Padma Shri Award and the Pampa Award, which is a literary award in Karanataka. Several Sandalwood actors like Puneeth Rajkumar, Sudeep, etc took to social media to pay their respects.

Here's what they said about the great poet:

Ramesh Aravind: He was a force in Kannada literature. His Kurigalu sir Kurigalu, referring to the herd mentality of public, became the first title of our superhit sir comedy series. He was very cordial and warm to me whenever I met him in filmi functions. I will always remember him in suit and tie.

Upendra: Senior literary figure and the creator of Nityotsava, KS Nisar Ahmed is no more. This is a big loss to the literary world.

Puneeth Rajkumar: Nisar Ahmed, the man who gave us Nityotsava, is no more. His contribution to literature remains immortal.

Sudeep: We Kannadigas, who learned to love our language immensely from you, are blessed. Every day will be a festival with your works
