According to the sources, Sanjay Dutt has been cast as the antagonist in this gangster-based action movie by director Lokesh Kanagaraj. "The script calls for the inclusion of numerous strong villains, and Sanjay Dutt is the ideal choice to play one of the many bad guys in this untitled movie. Sanjay Dutt and Lokesh have been talking for some time, and now everything is falling into place. According to a person familiar with the situation, the actor received a whopping Rs 10 crore as payment for his participation in the movie. The source further stated that Sanjay Dutt's appearance will give the movie a Pan-Indian feel.

It will have a national release in India. After the release of Vikram, Lokesh Kanagaraj is gradually gaining notoriety in the Northern region. With Vijay's upcoming film, he intends to step things up a notch. Making a name for himself in the Hindi belts is also a slow and steady procedure for Vijay. The insider stated that this would be his largest release in the Hindi industry and that filming will likely start in October or November of this year. Thalapathy 67 will aim for a 2023 Diwali release. Following the January 2023 release of Varisu, it would be Vijay's second movie of the year.
