Shaam plays one of the brother in Thalapathy Vijay's Varisu. Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, the film is all set for a grand release on January 11. The film will clash at the box office with Ajith's Thunivu. Shaam revealed his equation with Vijay and how he learnt a lot from him.
In an interview with IndiaToday.in, Shaam said, "I have seen director Vamshi padaipally's films and they are largely family entertainers. When he called me and spoke about the role, I was excited. But it was a double bonanza for me when I learnt it was a film with Vijay! Off screen, I’ve always been in touch with him and gone to his house for dinners several times. But this is the first time I am working in a film with him. I was shocked by Vijay’s professionalism on set. I have seen pan-Indian actors and the way they work but, finally, when I saw Vijay, I think he is the most professional. He doesn't use the phone on sets and there are no rehearsals - Vijay creates magic on set."
He further added, "I asked him why he doesn't use a mobile on set and he told me that we can use them during lunch breaks but on set, we need to be focussed on work. This was a learning for me. When I sit with other stars - I am not taking any names - they usually want us to talk about them or you end up listening to them talk. Vijay is not like that. He doesn't like talking about himself and prefers to have general conversations. As a human being, his habits are very impressive."
