Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan has pulled in over Rs 2 Crores in advance booking figures. This sum in itself is worth more than the first-day collection of mid-budget films. The film has had more than its fair share of controversies since the release of its song Besharam Rang. The film has endured extremist anger over the color of the swimsuit worn by Deepika Padukone in a song sequence. Adding to controversies, the name Pathaan itself was challenged. And as a final blow, there are boycott calls and death threats on the film's actors. Yet the film seems poised to rise above anger if the pre-release business is anything to go by. The film looks set to cross the one lakh tickets benchmark in advance booking figures.
Pathaan is set to cross the one lakh ticket benchmark in about 12 to 14 hours. Thus the Shah Rukh Khan starter is setting a benchmark before it faced a whole house of cinemagoers. There is momentum building up from advance sales but the figures lag behind those of KGF 2. The sales figure is about 12% less than that of KGF 2 but it is 40-50% better than that of Brahmastra. The estimate quoted is from the first day of sales.
Pathaan is expected to sell about 1 lakh tickets in 12 hours of sales. This figure will take the Shah Rukh Khan starter to 6th place behind Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 in final advance booking numbers. KGF 2 had sold a total of 5,05,000 tickets and Brahmastra sold 3,04,000 tickets, coming in at first and second places on the list. Thus Pathaan seems to be well on track to dominate the list in the coming days. Trade analysts are also predicting opening figures between 40 and 50 crores.
