Shahid Kapoor is arguably the most versatile actor of Bollywood industry who took the box-office by storm with his recent flick Kabir Singh. While many critics poured scorn on the movie calling it toxic and promoting women abusement, Kabir Singh, without ado, sprung up and achieved the feat of becoming second highest grosser of 2019.
After Arjun Reddy remake, the actor is sailing in the success boat with a hoard of movies in his sack. On the other hand, his one of the powerful political drama Haider - set in the backdrop of 1995 Kashmir conflicts, after elevating critics and movie-goers by winning five National film awards, has added another feather in its cap.
According to the sources, Lithub, one of the popular literary websites, has included Haider in the list of best Hamlet adaptations on screen. Released in 2014, Haider is an official adaptation of William Shakespeare's widely famous play Hamlet. The movie has bagged 7th spot in the list while Innokenty Smoktunovsky starrer Russian Hamlet (1964) remains at number 1 position.
Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, Haider is the third segment of the Shakespearean tragic trilogy after Maqbool and Omkara. Shahid Kapoor and Tabu’s phenomenal performances helped the movie successfully securing many awards and garnered nationwide acclaim.
On the work front, Shahid Kapoor is busy prepping up for his role of a cricketer in the upcoming movie “Jersey.” It is an official adaptation of Telugu sports-drama with the same name starring Nani in the lead role.
