Shankar and Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 may get shelved completely

Director Shankar and Kamal Haasan teamed up for the 1996 film Indian. This film has become a blockbuster at the box office and gained a classic status over the years. Now, the duo has teamed up once again to make a sequel to this film. Titled as Indian 2, this film went on floors in early 2019. But it is facing difficulties right from the beginning. If the ongoing rumor is anything to go by, the makers are now planning to shelve the film completely.

Indian 2 faced troubles right from the beginning. At first, Dil Raju came forward to produce the film. But he soon backed out to to the heavy budget quoted by Shankar. Then, Lyca Subhaskaran came forward to take the film on floors. After his arrival, the shoot of Indian 2 began in early 2019. Within a month, it got halted due to the budget issues once again. The issue continued until July last year. Finally, the director and producer came to an agreement on the budget. After everything got settled, the shooting resumed in August.

The film landed in trouble once again due to an accident that happened on the sets in February this year. Three crew members lost their lives in this mishap. Now, the shooting got halted once again with the coronavirus pandemic. As it is facing troubles right from the inception, the makers are apparently thinking to shelve it off completely. We have to wait for a few more days to get clarity on it.

Indian 2 features Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh and Kajal Aggarwal in the other important roles. Anirudh Ravichander is composing music for it.
