Shankar To Join Hands With Suriya For Velpari Adaptation

Director Shankar is currently busy with the shooting of two of his upcoming films. While he is presently shooting for Kamal Haasan's Indian 2, he recently wrapped up a schedule of Ram Charan's RC 15. The maverick filmmaker also announced Anniyan remake with Ranveer Singh. Since the film is in legal trouble, Shankar is likely to postpone the Anniyan remake. Another interesting development is that Shankar is in talks with actor Suriya for a film. If reports are to be believed, Shankar has plans to adapt the iconic novel Velpari into a film. Hence, the two have met each other a couple of times for the same project.

Reportedly, Suriya's 2D Entertainment had bought the rights of the film and was looking for a director to make it to a film. Velpari is written by Su Venkatesan, a Sahitya Akademy winner. The makers are planning to make it into a pan-India film with actors from different film industries. Currently, talks are going on with Shankar and Suriya to sign on the dotted lines. The film's pre production is expected to begin once Shankar completes RC 15 and Indian 2.
