Sherlyn Chopra Lodges Complaint Against Sajid Khan
Sherlyn Chopra has filed a police complaint against filmmaker Sajid Khan today at the Juhu police station in Mumbai. The actress requested that Sajid Khan be dropped from Bigg Boss show.
Sherlyn Chopra filed a police complaint today against filmmaker Sajid Khan at Mumbai's Juhu police station. The actress has done so to draw attention to a traumatic occurrence in 2005 in which she was groped. According to Sherlyn's spokeswoman, "We would not like to disclose the sections but we have filed it under outraging a woman’s modesty. We have also mentioned how he has come on the Bigg Boss show to whitewash his image. Sherlyn Chopra has dispatched the complaint to the police also marking deputy commissioner as well as the National Women’s Commission."
Sohail Sharif, her lawyer, summarised the developments and stated, "Today, Sherlyn has filed a police complaint against Sajid Khan under various sections and she has already dispatched it to the Juhu police station to register an FIR against Sajid under Section 354 for outraging the modesty of a woman. One of Sherlyn's conditions is that Sajid should be suspended from the Bigg Boss show. She has already written to Union Minister Anurag Thakur. And in a day or two, we’re issuing a notice to Colors TV to stop airing Bigg Boss episodes wherever Sajid is there."
This is not the first time a female actor has protested Sajid Khan's appearance on the Bigg Boss show. Tanushree Dutta, widely regarded as one of the first women to initiate the #MeToo movement in India, objected to the show casting Sajid for the newest season just a few days ago. Singer Sona Mohapatra and actor Ali Fazal have also spoken out against Sajid Khan's participation in the show, demanding that he be removed from the TV spot. All of these people have said that the claims of sexual misconduct leveled against Sajid by many women during the #MeToo movement should be taken seriously and that he should not be allowed the opportunity to speak on a public stage again.
