Shilpa Shirodkar Shares How Anil Kapoor And Mithun Chakraborty Helped Her In The Industry

Shilpa Shirodkar, an actor, recalled how Anil Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty assisted her in finding work in the 1990s. Shilpa said in a new interview that she got a role in a Telugu film after Anil Kapoor brought her photo album to show the producer and director. She also praised Mithun for giving her the film Bhrashtachar after the film industry dismissed her as a jinx.

Shilpa made her film debut in Ramesh Sippy's Bhrashtachar (1989), co-starring Mithun Chakraborty and Rekha. In the hit 1990 film Kishen Kanhaiya, she starred opposite Anil Kapoor. In an interview, Shilpa said, “It would be unfair if I took just one or two names. The entire industry played an important role in all the work I have done. I remember there was the casting of a Telugu film back in the 90s. Anil Kapoor was shooting in Hyderabad, and he actually carried my photo album to show the producer and director, and then, even I got the film.” "Mithun da was the reason I am working in this industry. When I lost out on Souten Ki Beti and Boney Kapoor’s then-titled Jungle, the industry had written me off as a jinx. It was dada who got me a role in Bhrashtachar and my journey in this wonderful industry began," she added. Souten Ki Beti (1989), directed by Saawan Kumar, stars Jeetendra, Rekha, and Jaya Prada. Shilpa appeared in many films during her ten-year career in the Hindi film industry. Trinetra and Hum (1991), Khuda Gawah (1992), and Aankhen (1993) are some of her prominent works. Pehchaan (1993), Gopi Kishan (1994), Bewafa Sanam (1995), and Mrityudand (1995) are also popular. After her marriage, she decided to stop acting, and her last film appearance was in the 2000 film Gaja Gamini.
