Siddique Kappan Bail: Kappan’s Wife Reihanath Says The Past Was A Period Of Mental And Financial Stress

Delhi: Malayali media activist Siddique Kappan's wife Reihanath is happy with the court verdict in which her husband was granted bail in the UAPA case imposed by the UP government. The court found him innocent. She also thanked the Supreme Court. Relief comes after two years of struggle. Reyhanath added that the past was a period of mental and financial stress, and the accusations were ignored.

The Supreme Court granted bail to Siddique Kappan by rejecting the UP government's demand that it be sufficient to grant bail after the investigation is completed. Siddique Kappan has been advised not to leave Delhi for six weeks. If you reach Kerala, you should report to the local police station. While considering the petition, the court asked what more evidence had been found against Kappan. How Dangerous Are Those Discovered Leaflets? The court also observed that the pamphlets were mere expressions of opinion. However, to be released from jail, Siddique Kappan has to get bail in the ED case as well.

The family approached the Supreme Court after the Mathura Court and the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court refused to grant bail to Siddique Kappan. The Allahabad High Court rejected the bail application, stating that Siddique Kappan's argument that he went to Hathras as a media worker could not stand. The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court had also observed that it is necessary to prove why Siddique Kappan went along with the other arrested accused.

The UP government had filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court last day stating that Siddique Kappan had close ties with the Popular Front. On October 5, 2022, the Uttar Pradesh Police arrested Siddique Kappan and others on the charge of disturbing the peace in Hathras. Then Kappan was arrested under UAPA and other sections and spent 22 months in jail.
