SIIMA 2019: Dhanush and Trisha bags leading honours for Tamil

On the second day of the South Indian Biggest Film Festival, the eighth edition of the annual South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) was held in Doha, Qatar this year. Aimed at felicitating the artistic and technical achievements of the south Indian film industry, it is traditionally a two-day fest where the first day is dedicated to Telugu and Kannada films and the second day is about Malayalam and Tamil films.
Kathir’s mirror image of today’s reality, 'Pariyerum Perumal' was awarded as the best movie where Dhanush was felicitated with the best actor for his mind gobbling performance in 'Vada Chennai'. Lovely Trisha Krishnan appreciated for her role in ’96' with the best actress award.
Anirudh Ravichandran is the best music director for Nayanthara’s 'Kolamavu Kokila’. Yogi Babu got the best comedian honour for the same movie.

Suriya to play a dual role as a father and son for director Vetrimaran's next; Film gets a tentative title

Suriya is one of the popular actors in the Tamil film industry. The actor has been working hard to increase his market in Telugu. His next film Soorarai Pottru is releasing in Telugu as Aakashame Nee Haddhu Ra. There is no clarity on the release date of the film. On the other side, Suriya has signed a new movie under the direction of Vetrimaran. The buzz is that Suriya plays a dual role in the film.

Vetrimaran is a popular and critically acclaimed filmmaker in the South. His films always garner huge attention at the box-office. The director prepared an interesting story for the project. Vaadivaasal is the tentative title of the film and Suriya might play a dual role in the movie. Like in Surya S/o Krishnan, Suriya will be seen in a dual role in the film as a father and his son.

Shanthnu, Bhavani Sre and Kaildas Jayaram play the lead roles in Sudha Kongara's segment of the upcoming Netflix anthology film

We are already aware that Netflix is making an anthology film in Tamil. This film will have four segments directed by four directors and revolves around the concept of honor killings. Vetrimaaran, Vignesh Shivn, Sudha Kongara, and Gautham Vasudev Menon are helming the four stories of the movie. The latest we hear is that Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Bhavani Sre, and Kalidas Jayaram are playing the lead roles in Sudha Kongara's segment.

Sudha has already completed the shoot of her segment. Currently, the post-production works are going in a full swing. Netflix is planning to release this film towards the end of this year. Sai Pallavi and Prakash Raj are playing the pivotal roles in Vetrimaaran's segment. Anjali and Kalki Koechlin are playing important roles in Vignesh Shivn's episode. We are yet to know about the cast of Gautham Menon's segment.
Sudha Kongara is also busy in the works of her upcoming release Soorarai Pottru. The film got done with all of its works and is gearing up for the release. It will hit the screens as soon as the ongoing lockdown of the theaters gets over. Suriya and Aparna Balamurali are playing the lead roles in this movie. It is heavily inspired by the life of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath. Mohan Babu, Jackie Shroff, and Paresh Rawal played the other important roles in it. GV Prakash Kumar is composing the music of it.

First look of Vijay Sethupathi's Tughlaq Durbar will be out on 8th July at 5 PM

Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi teamed up with debutant director Delhiprasad Deenadayal for the film Tughlaq Durbar. The film went on the floors in August last year. It is currently in the final stages of its work. Meanwhile, the makers have today announced that the first look poster of the film will be out on July 8th at 5 pm.

The makers took on social media to announce the news. In an officially released statement, they said, "First-look of MakkalSelvan @VijaySethuOffl's #TughlaqDurbar on 8th JULY - 5 PM." The film features Aditi Rao Hydari and Manjima Mohan as the female leads. 96 fame Govind Vasantha is composing the music of it. It is being bankrolled by Lalit Kumar under the banner Seven Screen Studio. The release details of this movie will get announced very soon.
Currently, Vijay Sethupathi is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Master. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Master features Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role. Vijay Sethupathi is playing the role of an antagonist in this movie. Speaking in a recent interview, Sethupathi stated that he is playing the role of a ruthless villain in this movie. Master will get released once the lockdown of the theatres will get over. On the flip side, Vijay Sethupathi is also working for the film Kathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal. The shoot of this Vignesh Shivn directorial film will get started in August this year.
