Simbu On How He Did Vinnaithandi Varuvaya With Gautham Menon

Simbu discusses why he insisted on performing "Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya" rather than "Sura." As a result of his performance in the recently released film "Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu," Simbu is the man of the moment in Kollywood. The movie, which was directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, opened well at the box office on September 15. The movie is currently the buzz of the town after grossing Rs 23 crore in just two days. Simbu and Siddhi Idnani play the key characters in the movie, and AR Rahman wrote the soundtrack.

When asked about his first project with Gautham Vasudev Menon, "Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya," Simbu said that the director initially approached him with the aim of filming an action movie with the working title "Sura," but then thought that the actor would be more suited to projects like "Manmadhan." Simbu claimed that he later asked Gautham Menon to helm a love story, for which the director allegedly stated that the main character wouldn't play a significant part.

Simbu continued, "Even though I didn't have a major role, I still insisted on shooting for a story like 'Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya'." He also disclosed that the movie's original title was "Jessie" and that it was a heroine-focused tale. Simbu also said that although the plot remained the same and the female lead was given additional weight, the entire picture transformed after he was cast. Simbu also asserted that he didn't have many female admirers prior to the release of "Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya."
