Sobhita Dhulipala took to her Instagram to post the title poster for the film ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. Through this gesture, she confirms that she is going to be a part of the next Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus project herself. The film’s shooting is currently in progress, taking place in Hyderabad. Thota Tharani is the art director of the film and he’s working in full force, ensuing sets of the film.
Actors of the film, namely Mansur Ali Khan, Jayam Ravi, and Karthi are already up to date with their shooting schedules and are making several visits to the film sets. There have been media reports that actress Trisha, as Kundhavai Nachiyar in the film, will begin shooting in the next few days. The rumor has it that Jayam Ravi will play the role of Chola king Arunmozhi Varman and Chiyaan Vikram as Adithya Karikaalan, his brother. Karthi is cast as Vandhiya Devan. Jayaram, Lal, Mohan Raman, Arjun Kakumanu, Ashwin Chidambaram, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will feature in the film, in significant roles.
The film is novel based, with the same title, narrating the tale of Chola kingdom. Both Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies, together are bankrolling this project. The script is co-written by Mani Ratnam and Abhiyum Naanum fame Kumaravel.
