Over the past few weeks, many celebrities from across the country have pledged support to daily wage earners amid the Coronavirus lockdown. From Salman Khan to Amitabh Bachchan to Akshay Kumar, Bollywood celebrities have donated large sums of money to help those who are left without a job. Now actor Sonu Sood has partnered with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to feed underprivileged people on the roads of Mumbai. Sonu has pledged help to anyone who needs help at such trying times.
According to a report published by Mid-day, the actor has fed more than 45000 people every day in Andheri. Sonu himself said, "Some of us are blessed to have food and shelter in these tough times, but there are many who have not had meals in days. To help them, I've started a special food and ration drive, Shakti Annadanam, which is named after my father. I hope I am able to help as many people as possible."
Previously the actor gave his hotel in Mumbai to healthcare workers who need a place for a temporary stay. The actor said that we all need to stand up in support of healthcare workers as they are the ones fighting the pandemic on the frontlines.
In a statement issued by the actor, Sood said, "It’s my honor to be able to do my bit for the doctors, nurses and paramedical staff of our country who have been working day and night to save the lives of millions in the country. I’m really happy to open the doors of my hotel for these real-time heroes."
Salman Khan has also pledged support to more than 25000 daily wage workers from the cinema industry. He has sent money to all those in need of basic necessities
