The 1990s were full of wacky horror films that turned out wildly successful. Sony Columbia Pictures is now in works to reboot another one of those films. Anaconda is currently sitting in the writer's room with Evan Daugherty as the executive writer. Evan Daugherty has previously penned scripts for Snowhite and the Huntsman starring Chris Hemsworth.
The original film came out in 1997 and tells the story of a film crew shooting in the Amazon jungles when they across an obsessive Hunter. The rest of the film sees the hunter tangling the film crew into his hunt of finding a legendary snake. The snake in its own right finds them back before swallowing them whole.
The 1997 film starred Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Jon Voight, Eric Stoltz, Owen Wilson, Kari Wuhrer and Jonathan Hyde. Currently, there are no producers or stars attached to the film's reboot.
While the original film got destroyed by critics it did so well in the theatres that it resulted in a sequel that went to the theatres and then 3 more direct DVD sequels.
