Soorarai Pottru Movie to premiere on Sun TV

Suriya made a statement when he decided to release his film Soorarai Pottru on Amazon Prime Video. Directed by Sudha Kongara Prasad, the film was meant for a theatrical release. Due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, Suriya took the bold decision of releasing the film on an OTT platform. Soorarai Pottru released on November 12 and received overwhelming reviews from critics and audience alike. After almost two months, Soorarai Pottru will now premiere on Sun Television channel on Pongal, which falls on January 14.

The film will be aired at 6.30 pm and are expecting a huge TRP rate for the channel. Soorarai Pottru stars Suriya, Aparna Balamurali, Paresh Rawal and Urvashi. Soorarai Pottru is based on the life of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath. In an interview to India Today, Suriya wrote, "Sudha and I met Captain Gopinath just to get his blessings and energy. I play Maara in the film and not Gopinath and hence I did not have to resemble him in any way. He wanted us not to let go of the spirit of the book Fly Again and we promised him that. He was happy watching Soorarai Pottru."
