The Netflix original 'I Am not Okay with This' has created its own fan base in the blink of an eye. It stars Sophia Lillis, Wyatt Oleff, Sofia Bryant and Kathleen Rose Perkins. Shawn Levy produced this hit show while Jonathan Entwistle directed it. Both Levy and Entwistle have worked on Stranger Things and The End of the F***ing World. Two blockbuster shows. The lead actors, Lillis and Oleff talk about what it was like working on this fusion film.
The story follows Sidney, a 17-year-old girl who is struggling to overcome the death of her father. As well as coming to terms with her sexuality. What makes her life even more unusual is her newfound psychic power which she cannot control. Wyatt plays the character of Stanley who becomes Sidney's friend early in the show. He looks out for her throughout the show. Lillis shared that the ending satisfied her. Season 1 of ‘IANOW’ ended on a cliff-hanger that can only mean that we can expect its second season. Wyatt talked to HollywoodLife about Sidney and Stanely's friendship. He said, “With all, they’ve been through, I think Stanley would do almost anything to make sure that she stays safe, especially keeping her secret,”.
Its first season only consists of eight episodes. Both the young actors admitted that there is still a lot that needs work. Wyatt wants a backstory of the relationship between Stanley and his father. “I feel like Stanley acts pretty consistent throughout the show, except for when he’s with his dad. I think there’s something there that is kind of hinted at but maybe not totally explored.”
Lillis doesn't consider her character a hero. The 18-year-old IT actress said “I don’t really consider her anything,” Hero or not, we are in love with Sidney. I can't wait for the second season! Let's hope it has more episodes than the first one.
