Soundarya Rajinikanth had earlier announced that she will be working on the Ponniyin Selvan web series. After years of pre-production, she took to social media to announce her next project. Titled Puthu Vellam, the web series is based on the Tamil literary novel, Ponniyin Selvan, written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy. The web series will have multiple seasons. Going by the poster, the web series will be aired on MX Player. The web series has a screenplay and direction by Sharath Jothi. Soundarya Rajinikanth took to Twitter to announce the same with photos of the bound script.
The pre-production work of Puthu Vellam is currently underway. The cast and crew are yet to be finalized. More announcements will be followed soon. Currently, Ponniyin Selvan is being adapted into a film by director Mani Ratnam. The film will be made in two parts. The web series is from a different production house and will be presented by Soundarya Rajinikanth. Ponniyin Selvan is a fictional story based on the Chola dynasty. The novel holds a special place in the hearts of Tamil literary enthusiasts. A huge team will be working on Puthu Vellam. Soundarya Rajinikanth said that she can't wait to get started on the web series.
