South Indian superstar Suriya and Bollywood star Kajol have been invited to the Oscar committee. Suriya is the first actor from South India to have been nominated for an Oscar committee. This was officially announced by the Oscar Academy itself. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin also took to the internet to congratulate Suriya.
Director Reema Kagti, Sushmit Ghosh, Rintu Thomas, Aditya Sood, and P.R. Aya Sohni Sengupta are the other Indian members of the committee. The members of the committee will vote for the best films and actors. The film and the actors who get the most votes will win the Oscar award. The members of the Oscar committee change every year. People from all over the world are nominated for the Oscars. The award committee will have 397 members. Suriya is on the cast list. This is the first time an actor from South Indian cinema has been invited to be a part of the academy. Earlier, Suriya starrer Jai Bhim was featured on the Oscar's official YouTube channel. Before, actors Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan, Priyanka Chopra, Ekta Kapoor, and music director A.R. Rahman has already been selected as a member of the Oscar committee.
