The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations were revealed on July 12, and "Squid Game" had made history! The popular program got a record-breaking 14 nominations for this year's Emmy Awards, including one for "Outstanding Drama Series." Squid Game is currently the first non-English language television program to be nominated in this category at the Emmy Awards.
Additionally, the actors of the series have won a total of five acting awards. In their respective categories, they are the first native Korean actors. The actor Lee Jung Jae is up for "Lead Actor in a Drama Series" award. Jung Ho Yeon, meanwhile, has been nominated for "Supporting Actress in a Drama Series." For "Supporting Actor in a Drama Series," Park Hae Soo and Oh Young Su have both been nominated. Lee Yoo Mi has been nominated for "Guest Actress in a Drama Series."
Creative of "Squid Game" Hwang Dong Hyuk is currently the first local Korean creator to receive Emmy nominations for both directing and writing. This is because of his two nominations for "Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series" and "Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series."
This year, 'Squid Game' has also received nominations for 'Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Contemporary Program (One Hour or More),' 'Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series (One Hour),' 'Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Drama Series,' 'Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music,' 'Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode,' and 'Outstanding Stunt performance.
With its nomination for "Outstanding Drama," five acting nominations, two nominations for writer Hwang Dong Hyuk. And in six further categories, "Squid Game" now has an outstanding 14 nominations for the Primetime Emmy Awards this year. The ceremony for this year is scheduled to telecast on September 22.
