SS Rajamouli has won the Best Director prize from the New York Film Critics Circle (NYFCC). The director, his wife Rama Rajamouli, son SS Karthikeya, and other family members attended the awards ceremony.
RRR was praised in the West just as much as it was in India, according to SS Rajamouli, who accepted the prestigious award. When his name was called out for the Best Filmmaker Award, the audience applauded the director with a standing ovation. Rajamouli dressed in traditional Indian garb, a grey kurta pyjama, and a cream shawl.
Rajamouli stated in his victory speech that "film is like a shrine." He went on to say, "With RRR, I saw the same kind of reception in the West. They were reacting the same way that Indians did.”
Speaking about the epic pre-interval sequence of RRR, the Baahubali director said, "It was the pure joy of awe, like what in the hell we just witnessed. That is what I want my audiences to feel.”
Rajamouli's son SS Karthikeya posted a few images of his father during the ceremony along with the hashtag "BEST DIRECTOR." Rajamouli and his wife may be seen in the photos posing with the trophy. Fans are praising the director for representing India with pride, and he is already trending on social media.
Many celebrities, including Nithiin, Manchu Lakshmi, and others, expressed their pride. They offered their congratulations to SS Rajamouli for his magnificent victory. Additionally, the RRR team tweeted, "Congratulations @ssrajamouli@nyfcc. You made us proud. Salute Captain."
The RRR is prepared to bolster its resume with yet another major honor at the Golden Globes in Los Angeles. The RRR team will attend the award event, including SS Rajamouli, his family, Ram Charan and his wife Upasana, and MM Keeravani. The award presentation will take place in Los Angeles on January 11, 2023. The movie has received nominations for both Best Original Song - Motion Picture for the song Naatu Naatu. And Best Motion Picture - Non-English Language.
RRR's producers decided to take a second chance after their film was initially passed up as India's official entry for the Oscars. And joined the 'For Your Consideration' campaign for the Academy award nominations. The hit film has been nominated for awards in 14 categories. This includes Best Motion Picture, Best Director (SS Rajamouli), Best Actor in a Lead Role (Ram Charan and Jr. NTR), and others.
