In response, Doordarshan recently announced that it will re-telecast Mahabharat due to public demand. Following Doordarshan's suite, Star Jalsha has also decided to bring back its 2013 saga Mahabharat.
The epic Mahabharat has been picturized on screen several times. Star Jalsha is all set to re-telecast the 2013 version that first aired on Star Plus. The entire family can now catch the very Monday to Friday at 9 pm.
Many versions has depicted the epic in different ways. The 2013 version of the Mahabharat aimed to re-tell the epic from start to finish. The story begins with the story of Shantanu and goes on to recount the entirety of the epic. The show concludes with the ending of the Kurukshetra War and the coronation of Yudhisthira as the rightful king of Hastinapur.
The 2013 Mahabharat's premiere had an average viewership of approximately 8.4 million people. The game of dice episode on Star Plus received the highest GTV (Gross Televsion Viewership) on Indian television.
The show stars Saurabh Jain (as Lord Krishna), Pooja Sharma (as Draupadi), Sayantani Ghosh (as Satyavati), Shaheer Sheikh (as Arjuna), Arpit Ranka (as Duryodhana), Praneet Bhatt (as Shakuni) and Puneet Issar (as Parshurama).
