The 68th National Awards were revealed yesterday, and Kollywood actors took home ten of the coveted awards across many categories. While Suriya's 'Soorarai Pottru' received five nominations, 'Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum' received three, and 'Mandela' received two. The whole Tamil cinema fraternity wished the prize recipients, including Superstar Rajinikanth and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, who have won four National Awards.
Rajinikanth's post in Tamil translates to, "My heartiest congratulations and appreciation to all the award-winning filmmakers and award-winning filmmakers including actor Suriya and 'Soorarai Pottru' director."
Kamal Haasan also posted in Tamil, which translates to, "Proud that 'Soorarai Pottru' has bagged 5 National Awards. Bagging a total of 10 awards, with 'Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum', 'Mandela', and others have made the country take notice of the Tamil film industry. My heartiest congratulations to all the awardees."
Kollywood received ten awards at the 68th National Awards, and congratulations from fans and celebrities have begun to stream in on social media. While 'Soorarai Pottru' had four nominations, Madonne Ashwin won the National Award for Best Debut Director for his Yogi Babu-starrer, ‘Mandela,' which also received a nomination for Best Dialogue. For her part in 'Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum,' actress Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli got the National Award for Best Supporting Actress, while editor Sreekar Prasad won the National Award for Best Editor.
