Superstars Rajinikanth And Kamal Haasan Reminisce About Their 40 Year Long Friendship As They Attend 'Ponniyin Selvan' Event

Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan grand event on Tuesday was a visual treat for cinephiles, as two iconic superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan attended. Seeing both Tamil actors in the same frame was like watching a movie. Kamal Haasan addressed his long friendship with Rajinikanth at the event, saying there is no time or space for jealousy between them.

According to Kamal Haasan, "Cinema is a small family, and there is no room or time for jealousy. Rajini and I knew it from the beginning, which is why we're still standing in front of you." Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have known each other for over 40 years. Beginning with the 1975 film Apoorva Raagangal considered a breakthrough film for both, the two have appeared in 16 films together. Meanwhile, Ponniyin Selvan was supposed to be made 30 years ago with Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth. While Kamal Hasaan was set to play ArunmozhiVarman, Rajinikanth was set to play Vanthiyathevan. Ponniyin Selvan's story is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's fiction novel of the same name. The story follows Rajaraja Chola I of the Chola dynasty. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will play Nandini, Vikram will play Aditya Karikalan, Karthi will play Vanthiyathevan, Trisha will play Kundavai, and Jayam Ravi will play Arunmozhi Varman. Meanwhile, after a two-year hiatus, Kamal Haasan and S Shankar's highly anticipated film Indian 2 has resumed production with a mahurat pooja. In key roles, Kajal Aggarwal appears alongside Bobby Simha, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Guru Somasundaram, and Samuthirakani. Rajinikanth will next appear in Nelson Dilipkumar's directorial, Jailer. Furthermore, Ramya Krishnan recently confirmed that she will be a part of this highly anticipated project. The film's music is composed by Anirudh.
