The Supreme Court has stayed the order to pay compensation to the complainant in the 'Jabra Fan' case. Yash Raj Films produced the film ‘Fan’. This was after a woman complained against, not including the ‘Jabra song in the film, which was featured in the teaser. The court was hearing an appeal filed by Yash Raj Films against this.
The lawyer for Yash Raj Films argued that the absence of song is a common occurrence in the film industry. However, the court asked whether the normal situation should continue.
Zaidi, who complained, claimed that her children were so upset. She alleged they didn't eat their dinner properly at night since the song has removed. Reportedly, this resulted in a rise in their acidity levels and even hospitalization.
The District Consumer Forum dismissed her complaint. The Maharashtra State Commission ordered YRF to pay her Rs 10,000 in compensation and Rs 5,000 in litigation costs. YRF said that the song was only for promotional purposes and all distributors were aware of this.
