Suriya confirms that Soorarai Potttru will have a theatrical release first and not an OTT release

Jyotika's recent film Ponmagal Vandhaal created history by becoming the first Tamil film to have a direct OTT release. The film has premiered on Amazon Prime Video on May 29. Upon its release, the film received a good response from the audiences. Ponmagal Vandhaal got produced by Suriya. During a recent interaction with fans. Suriya got asked whether he would opt for an OTT release for his upcoming film Soorarai Pottru. The actor confirmed that the film will have a theatrical release and not a digital one.

 
Recently, Suriya participated in a live chat with fans on social media. Speaking in that interaction, Suriya said that Soorarai Pottru is a film that is close to his heart. He said that the team had put in a lot of effort into it. The actor opined that it should get screened on the big screen for sure. He later confirmed that the viewers will watch the film in theaters first and not on any other digital platform.
 
Soorarai Pottru is being directed by Sudha Kongara. It is partially inspired by the life of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath. The film features Aparna Balamurali as the female lead. Mohan Babu, Jackie Shroff, and Paresh Rawal have played the other important roles in it. GV Prakash Kumar composed the music for it. The film was actually supposed to hit the screens this summer. But the COVID-19 pandemic has ruined its plans. The new release date will get announced soon.
