Suriya's Soorarai Pottru to compete in Oscars 2021

Suriya joined hands with director Sudha Kongara Prasad for their film Soorarai Pottru. The film is based on aviation industry and Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath. Due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, Soorarai Pottru skipped theatrical release and was directly dropped on Amazon Prime Video. Among the films that released on multiple OTT platforms, Soorarai Pottru managed to impress the audience and became a massive hit. Now, the latest development has excited fans and the makers as Ssoorarai Pottru is all set to compete in Oscars 2021.

Producer Rajasekar Pandian took to Twitter to announce the happy news with the fans. He wrote, "Happy Republic Day! #SooraraiPottru joins OSCARS under General Category in Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Original Score & other categories! The film has been made available in the Academy Screening Room today. Our team is confident that the film will impress upon the Oscar Jury members as how it has impressed millions of film lovers across the globe (sic)." The film was appreciated for the performances of Suriya, Aparna Balamurali, and composer GV Prakash. Soorarai Pottru is all set to take on the Academy Awards with its story.
