'Iravin Nizhal,' the world's first non-linear single-shot film, was released in theatres last month by director and actor Parthiban. As an experimental attempt, the picture did not fare well at the box office. Parthiban, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Brigida Saga, and Robo Shankar appeared in the film. AR Rahman composed the soundtrack for the film.

Rajinikanth commended Parthiban and AR Rahman for creating a masterpiece after the film's premiere. After seeing the movie at a private screening, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin hails Parthiban for 'Iravin Nizhal.' The state chief minister tweeted his thoughts after sharing a photograph with Parthiban. The tweet read, “Unique in everything – that’s @rparthiepan! A single-shot film after #Otha Seruppu! #IravinNizhal – the technical skills used in the film, the heights of using technology in a Tamil film! Congratulations to him for showing himself as a technology senior using his nonlinear single-shot film.”

'Iravin Nizhal' was also released in English as 'Shadow of Night' at the Cannes International Film Festival. The film gained a widespread appreciation and critical accolades for trying its best as an experimental picture. The plot of the film centers on a 50-year-old man who reflects on the life choices he has made over the years.
