Tannishtha Chatterjee wins Best Actress award for Lihaaf in Mexico

The Queer International Film Festival Playa del Carmen bestowed upon Tannishtha, the award of Best Actress for her role in Lihaaf: The Quilt.

Tannishtha Chatterjee wins Best Actress award for Lihaaf in Mexico

The actress played the role of Ismat Chughtai, the author on whose story the film had based. Tannishtha is well known for her role in Parched and Angry Indian Goddesses and her role in Lihaaf had received with critical acclaim but this is the first award she has won for the film. 

 
The Queer International Film Festival Playa del Carmen (Mexico), held its 6th edition this November and screened from November 8 to November 14.
 
Lihaaf movie has premiered on November 10 and Tannishtha’s win is a matter of great pride for the team. 
 
Tannishtha Chatterjee could not attend the premiere of her film as she was busy with her directorial debut Roam Rome Mein but she thanked the eminent jury and the organizing team for conferring her with this honor.
 
The film is co-written by Rahat Kazmi and Sonal Sehgal and produced by Rahat Kazmi, Tariq Khan, Zeba Sajid, Namita Lal (Singapore), Umesh Shukla and Ashish Wagh. It is co-produced by Oscar-winning producer Marc Baschet (Known for Oscar-winning No Man’s Land and Lunch Box) while Golda Sellam of Cinelink France is a creative consultant on this project.
