Actor Rajinikanth is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, Darbar, directed by AR Murugadoss. The film is a commercial entertainer with Rajinikanth essaying the role of the police officer Aaditya Arunasalam, who plays the police commissioner. The film is all set to release worldwide on January 9.

Rajinikanth has signed his next film with director Siruthai Siva. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film is tentatively titled Thalaivar 168 as it marks his 168th film. The commercial entertainer went on floors recently in Hyderabad. Composer D Imman who is scoring the tunes for the film recently opened up about the first day at the film’s shooting.
Sharing a photo with Superstar Rajinikanth, D Imman wrote, “ Met the Man of Simplicity our dear ‪@rajinikanth‬ sir on the first day of the shoot today which had commenced with a song! His positive words about the song were so encouraging! What an aura! What an energy this man spills to the world around him! Breathtaking! Praise God! (sic)”
Thalaivar 168’s first schedule is progressing at a brisk pace in Hyderabad. The film features an ensemble cast including Soori, Meena, Khushbu and Prakash Raj in the lead roles. Rumors suggest that this film is a rural entertainer like Siruthai Siva’s previous flick Viswasam which featured actor Ajith.
